Born in 1980 in Phoenix Arizona, I have three sisters, very supportive parents, and an equally supportive husband. I was blessed from a very early age to discover two of my passions in life – music and art!
I sang my first solo at a talent show at age four, began piano lessons on my fifth birthday, and began entering drawing contests as soon as I started school. I was always obsessed with drawing people (mainly girls and princesses) and horses. Throughout grade school and high school it seems I drew more during class than I took notes or did schoolwork!
At the age of eighteen, while browsing through Antique Shops with a good friend, I came across Dollhouse Miniatures for the first time and was hooked! I bought two Chrysenbon kitchen furniture kits, took them home and completed them, then came back and bought five more. Soon after that, I moved on to making wooden dollhouse furniture, and, having an equal passion for music, began to create a music recording studio in miniature.
In 1999, I met my future husband and began working with him in a home business, which we continued together for the next several years. During this time, art took a lesser priority, although it remained something I wanted to pursue.
In December 2003, while browsing through Barnes & Noble bookstore, I came across the book “Family and Friends in Polymer Clay” and was fascinated! I never knew clay could look like this! Little did I know this was a turning point that would end up being life changing. I bought the book, and when I returned home I looked on the internet to see if the author was selling any of her sculptures. Somehow I came across the category of OOAK (one-of-a-kind) Fairies, and my life has never been the same since. After looking at hundreds of beautiful fairies on the internet, I purchased some polymer clay, followed some how-to tutorials, and after hours and hours I had made my first fairy!
Over the past several years sculpting has become my passion! It is such a joy to see a little figure, which started out as a lump of clay, come to life before my eyes. My favorite subjects to sculpt are children and babies, so inspiration comes easy. I have nine young nieces and nephews who provide endless inspiration, and I have always loved children and really enjoy capturing their precious features in my sculptures. The ideas are endless ~ from a little toddler getting into the Cookies with chocolate smeared all over her face and hands, to a sweet little sleeping baby with chubby cheeks and an angelic face.
I participated in my first show - the IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans) in NYC in February 2007, have been featured in several magazines and articles, and most exciting, in September 2007 I began my dream of sculpting full time! My dreams for the future are huge, and my love of sculpting is even bigger! I have met some of the most amazing customers and made some wonderful friends in the doll world. I thank God every day for the gifts he has entrusted me with, and hope to use them to my fullest ability for as long as I am able.
